CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee Policies and Procedures

These policies and procedures have been approved on Monday September 14, 2026 by a majority vote of the CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee.

CPS-IoT Week Rotation among Continents and Venue Selection

The CPS-IoT Week event will rotate among the Americas, Asia, and Europe on a 3-year cycle, with the event being held in the late spring (ideally mid-May) of each year. At least two years ahead of each event, the CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee will reach out to colleagues in our research community to solicit bids to host the event in a major city on the appropriate continent for that year. Teams expressing interest in hosting will be sent templates for a tentative budget spreadsheet and a slide presentation about the bid. The CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee will discuss the bids received and select one of them by ranked-choice vote. Teams whose bids that are not selected may be encouraged to submit again when that continent again comes up in the rotation.

CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee Vice-Chair and Chair

The Vice-Chair and Chair of the CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee are responsible for overall operation of the committee, including drafting policy, leading discussions, and scheduling and conducting votes; and ensuring timely calls for hosting, receipt of proposals, and selection of each year’s team and venue, and coordination with the leadership of each year’s event. Each Vice-Chair serves a term of 2 years, after which they serve as Chair for 2 subsequent years, with a new Vice-Chair (or if no Vice-Chair is currently serving at the end of a Chair’s term, both a new Chair and a new Vice-Chair) elected by ranked-choice vote of the CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee.

CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee Membership

Membership on the CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee will automatically accrue to the Vice-Chair and Chair of the CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee itself, and to the Chairs of IEEE TCRTS and ACM SIGBED or their designated representatives (e.g., their Vice-Chairs) by way of office (ex-officio). At the start of each new Chair’s term, that new Chair may at their discretion invite CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee members from the previous term to continue their service, contingent on affirmative confirmation of that invitation. Any member of the CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee may propose new members whose visibility and experience in our research community would fit well with that service. Upon approval by a majority vote of the current CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee members, the proposed member will be invited to join the CPS-IoT Week Steering Committee.
